About Me:

I am a full-time student at the University of St Andrews, and I am studying for my Masters degree in Structural Proteomics. I recently completed my Bachelors (Hons) degree in Microbiology. I am hoping to get a PhD placement, preferably at the University of York, before I embark on a career to save the world (actually I'll probably just hang about universities and lecture people).

I love to read and my favourite book of all time is 'The Phantom of the Opera' by Gaston Leroux. I love reading gothic fantasy, and science fiction, and actually some other genres too.

I come from a family of 4, I am the eldest and I have 2 sisters, Gemma (21) and Melissa (7), and one brother, James (almost 14). My mum has been separated from my dad for over 16 years, and I haven't seen my dad since I was 18. I was raised in a little town called Linwood, which is about 30 minutes from Glasgow on the motorway. It's not that great a place, but it's where I hail from!

Interests:

Reading, listening to music, playing pool, visiting the aquarium, eating.

Favorite Music:

I enjoy listening to many genres of music, and I dont really like to classify them, but at heart I am an indie chick. I love rock, I love alternative, I love punk, I like some rap (though nothing much recently), I have a major thing for the Rat Pack, especially Sammy Davis Jr. I even like some country and folk music. I am somewhat eclectic when it comes to music., My favourite artists are too many to list but here's an idea:, The Smiths, Morrissey, Shed Seven, The Smashing Pumpkins, The Bluetones, Pulp, Nirvana, Placebo, Radiohead, Hundred Reasons, Dashboard Confessional, Fall Out Boy, The Cure, The Get-Up Kids, The Used... god I haven't even looked at my mp3 player yet.

Favorite Movies:

I am not a big movie buff, but my favourite movies have to be:, The Crow - one of the best gothic tales ever filmed, Rain Man - I have loved this movie for years, I love Dustin in this, Brighton Rock - not as good as the book, but it still leaves me with the same disturbed sense at the end, Shaun of the Dead - not specifically a great movie but I love Simon Pegg and this was just some of his best work (including Spaced)

Favorite TV Shows:

I dont really watch much tv anymore, but I still love watching all my old favourites on DVD or from alluc.org, Red Dwarf, The Young Ones, Sean's Show, Bottom, Filthy, Rich & Catflap, Blackadder, Vic Reeves Big Night Out, Have I Got News For You, Whose Line Is It Anyway?, Not The 9 O'Clock News, Drop The Dead Donkey, Big Train, Spaced, The Hitch-Hikers Guide To The Galaxy

Favorite Books:

The Phantom of the Opera - Gaston Leroux, The Alchemist - Paulo Coelho, An Artist of the Floating World - Kazuo Ishiguro, The Hitch-Hiker's Guide To The Galaxy - Douglas Adams
